Houndstooth

Assalaamualikum lovely readers.
Hope you had a fantastic Eid well spent with family and loved ones. I must extend my gratitude and felt completely blessed with having my whole family with me from the Cape. Nothing compares with being surrounded by those you love on special days like that of Eid. As I am someone that never does Eid shopping. However whilst fabric hunting for my little sister and my baby girl. I spotted Houndstooth fabric and I immediately fell in love and knew exactly what I would design and achieve with my purchase. I must say that I was quite excited to get all dressed up for the occasion
.

So ladies If you’re looking for a print that’s both current and classic, houndstooth, with its contrasting tones and distinctive pattern, is the way to go. This year, it’s hot in categories across the board boldly patterned pieces made appearances at fall fashion week, in collections by the likes of Michael Kors one of my all time favourite designers, Oscar de la Renta, Tommy Hilfiger and Trina Turk. Outerwear in particular, getting bigger as oversized coats come into style, does the ‘tooth justice with a larger area to work with. Houndstooth is a great example of a pattern that looks on trend for today’s world of business chic but has also been around for years, probably many more than you would think.
Houndstooth originated in the Scottish Lowlands in the 1800s and was used mainly as outerwear for shepherds, according to The Campus Companion. The pattern was made using a simple combination of black and white thread, as well as in the other colour combinations that are popular now.
It first rose to recognition in the 1930s when, ironically considering its low-profile beginnings, upper-class Americans began wearing houndstooth as a status symbol. Christian Dior, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton soon incorporated houndstooth into their couture collections as well, according to Rue Rue La La . Since then, the trend’s enjoyed periodic revivals, like in Alexander McQueen 2009 F/W ready-to-wear collection.
But back to the present, whether you’re looking for a cozy, oversized coat or a flirty dress, pant or skirt  hounds tooth is on trend now and, judging by its past, most definitely able to stand the test of time. You could go completely monochrome but as I have an absolute love for colour. I've  paired mine with a bright yellow shirt and cobalt blue accessories and heels to give it that extra pop.

The sleeveless coat

Assalaamualiakum Lovely readers

As the holy month of Ramadhaan has dawned upon us, I would like to take this opportunity to once again wish each and every one of you a blessed month and the spiritual enlightenment that comes along with it. With that being said, finding the time to scout for locations and do the regular shoots has become constrained. Having my online store up and running was supposed to ease the tension but to my surprise, this was not the case.

My look post today is about a  transitional piece that is destined to become a closet staple "THE SLEEVELESS COAT"

This winter is all about sleeveless, from puffer vests, to sleeveless coats, you can't go wrong with this versatile new trend. Sleeveless coats are the perfect transitional piece to have in your wardrobe, take a sleevless coat from autumn, to winter, and  into spring with ease. Layer over a light top in autumn, a warm knit or turtle neck in winter, and over an elegant dress in spring. Thats essentially three coats in one!

When it's not so cold outside, but you still want something cozy, then why don't you try on a sleeveless coat? Some may say it's just a long vest or a gilet, but I want to call it a sleeveless coat, because of its long silhouette. It's a practical cover-up which is incredibly cozy and is a perfect way to update your look as well as  being perefetctly modest. They can almost be paired with anything from jeans to chino's, tailored pants, skirts and dresses. A timeless and classic piece that is completely versatile.

The coat was a purchase I made from Zara. I've paired mine with a cropped knit from Forever New, a black tailored pants and skiny belt with gold trimmings from Zara. A pair of genuine leather wedges, which I bought two seasons ago from Luella shoes. Accessories are kept to a minimal a chucky Black ring and studded black earrings from Lovisa as I merely wanted the focus on the coat and not elsewhere.

Hope you enjoyed the post
Until next Time
Stay blessed & Beautiful

Parsian Winter Collection 2015

Happy Tuesday to one and all! It has been ages since I've last blogged.
As you all know, I launched my Autumn/Winter collection and with much excitement, all items are ready for purchase on my online store  http://www.hseofbespokebywh.com/

I would also like to reiterate my reasoning behind the transition of my brand from Bespoke Hijabi by WH to Hse of Bespoke by WH. It was purely to enable myself to cater to a larger audience. I believe that broadening my reach and becoming more accessible to women regardless of their belief systems will undoubtedly aid in the success and expansion of my business.

My bespoke designs are transcendent of race, cultural belief and age. People tend to think being a Muslim woman in today’s world means you cannot experiment with style without sacrificing your sense of morality and of course, modesty. I strive to show women that this is not true. My journey has definitely taught me to believe in myself and strive to fill the gap in the industry to accommodate a woman who is fearless when it comes to portraying effortless style without having to expose herself.

The Hse of Bespoke Brand captures the essence of the modest woman and elegance on a quest for natural beauty. The avant-garde high fashion range consists of modern yet modest wear that can be worn effortlessly by any woman, regardless of their preference. The range includes ready to wear tailored separates as well as put together looks, all showing effortless yet thoughtful versatility.

My ultimate fashion philosophy is to wear clothes that not only accentuate your femininity modestly, but also exhibit your intangible assets. Your wardrobe should be a physical representation of your personality, spirituality and last but not least, it should boost your confidence.

As I have a bit more time on my hands I will diffenately be doing more post. So keep your eyes peeled and hope you all have a splendid week further.
Stay blessed and beautiful!

Happy days are here!

Assalaam beautiful souls...

My long awaited fashion show has been confirmed for the 25th April 2015. Situated in an area called Quellerina, the venue, www.black-olive.co.za, is a very intimate and cosy location, ideal for the event due to its exclusivity. It will be a ladies only event, filled with loads of excitement and surprises- an event surely not to be missed! Once all is confirmed, I will be sharing more detailed information, so keep an eye out for ticket sales as there are limited seats available.

Today's look is an outfit I wore on a date with the Hubby. As we very seldomly get to spend quality time together due to everyday constraints, when we do have the opportunity, I always make it a must to dress up and feel absolutely fabulous. I decided on my monochrome printed pant. These pants are so versatile! They can be dressed up or down, worn simply with a casual tee and you're good to go. Sometimes you gotta keep it simple and let your bottom half do the talking. I paired it with a simple top with a zip detail, a black fitted blazer, gold accessories a 6 inch black pump, my channel handbag and I was ready to hit the road.

Back to basics

Assallaam my peeps!!!

The planning and designs of my new autumn/winter collection were finalized yesterday, which I'm completely stoked about. The collection will consist of twelve designs, which I've put alot of thought into... as well as selecting the perfect fabric to compliment each design. My sample range will be ready on 23 March 2015 and the new face of Bespoke will be announced shortly thereafter.

Also to let you know that I've sourced a beautiful venue for my fashion show that will be held in April 2015 Insha Allah. Once the date has been confirmed. Tickets will then go on sale intermediately. I must say that this is such a surreal time for me and I'm incredibly excited.

Now back to basics. Wardrobe essentials are the building blocks to a sold functional style. They can simply be worn with anything at almost anytime of the year. You can never go wrong with plain basic staples, they classic and  never get outdated. Black is considered to be a staple for classy fashionista's. However in the warmer months the trick is to add a pop of colour to your palette. Think of it as a canvass to build your outfit on. My idea of  basic staples would be a black skirt,  black pant,  long black dress, white shirt, white and black tee, a jean pant that fits perfectly, a beautifully fitted blazer and a cardie.

In my post today I'm wearing a simple styled turban using a black pashmina and as my focus was to work off a black canvas  (black  pant and a black  long sleeved top), I've  adding some colour by pairing it with a colourful kimono, tan heels, tan belt and a black clutch and gold choker and not forgetting the chunky ring.

Ladies remember that your closet essentials are your outfit fixers.
Hope you all having a splendid week.

The TEE...!!!

 Salaam lovely readers.

As most of you know by now, I have teamed up with Nazeera Hassen, from Infallible photography AKA my_hijablifestyle_sa. as the official photographer of Bespoke.  Being an extremely pedantic individual I must say that it took me a while to find the right kind of person to collaborate with. May this venture grow to great heights. Insha Allah.

Now with regards to the new face of Bespoke. I have been receiving emails and messages from ladies wanting to know why the sudden change? From a marketing perspective, I personally believe that it will be good for my brand to take on a new, fresh, face to represent Bespoke. However  I will still continue to blog and do fashion post as I normally have been. So I ain't going nowhere. Also to let you know that I have received numerous entries and will be making my final decision in weeks to come.

What I'm wearing in  my post today, is an outfit I wore out on a lunch date with a friend, which I haven't seen in years. So it was great catching up on lost times. Anyway the look was somewhat causal and adding a grey sports blazer by it giving it a little edge. I must say that t-shirts have really grabbed my attention this season so I paired it with a crisp white Tee. In the late 1960s, the T-shirt became a means of self expression as wearable art as well as to convey commercial advertising, souvenir messages, and protests.  I believe that it has become a huge trend with so many different designs, many colours of fabric as well as many variations of cuts and styles are added as options. Including: crew neck, raglan, ringers, tanks, baby doll, spaghetti strap, V neck, A-shirts, camisole, polo, and many more. Now onto my bottoms, I decided on dark blue denims and a tan wedge which is oh so comfy.  A colourful turban look I'm sporting, is a style which I literally created whilst getting dressed. Kept the accessories very basic by adding a chunky ring and necklace and a bracelet which I bought back in the day from one of the very first accessories stores in Sandton City .
